That sucks, any old school restaurant person knows that managers get a salary and aren't supposed to get any part of the tip pool. I remember a while back I was working at a high end steak joint (I won't name names but it rhymes with Schmorton's) and a big part of the manager's income came from being tipped out as a "wine steward". Basically, any time a bottle of wine was ordered the manager would pull it and serve it to the table. Apparently this justified them getting tipped out something like 2% of the server's overall sales. It was basically a way to justify corporate underpaying these guys in salary but making it up out of the server's pockets. If I sold a $300 bottle of wine and get tipped on it, why the hell should I have to share that with anybody?
Sorry, stuff like this really strikes a cord with me.
